Different ways to wear a saree--- Bridal fashion

bridal fashion

Different saree drapes.

Saree can be worn in so many different and innovative ways. The best way to determine the style that suits you most is to take in account three things -

  1. What’s the best way to show off the beautiful work on the saree?
  2. What’s the theme of the wedding? Is it something more modern or traditional?
  3. What would best accentuate my body?

Saree is the most elegant attire which a women can adorn. You can look absolutely different and stylish by draping saree in a different style.Below here are some different saree style given by Lakme.
Few tips while wearing it are:-
1.Wear your saree neatly.
2.Alter your blouses and always get them stitched from a good boutique
3.Be confident in what you are wearing.
4.Use lot of pins so that saree remains intact.
5.Never wear a flared patticoat inside.

Northern pride drape
The northern Indian style of draping saree involves the traditional way of wearing the saree with the end piece falling across the front of the body.In this sarees have skirt pleats in the front and the free end draped around the back and over the front, so that the end piece of the saree covers the wearer`s breasts.
The Classic Indian style of draping the saree is quite common and is worn at weddings, poojas, traditional ceremonies, formal gatherings such as conferences, lectures or even to the office.
Its a common North indian drape
The Maharani style of draping the saree is quite common in weddings, poojas, wedding receptions and traditional ceremonies
This type of drape was carried by Indian Maharanis
Western innovative drape
Mumtas style drape
Remember actress Mumtaz in her songs wearing this drape. This is very innovative drap. here saree is rounded twice around to give a slim effect. It’s hard to walk in this drap. This drap is good for saree with heavy or embroidered borders.Wearing this style makes on look slimmer too.
Devdas style drape
It is the Bengali style however the difference is that instead of the pallu end being left long it is again wrapped around the upper body with the end thrown over the left shoulder. Attach eithera heavy key or a key ring to corner of the end to weight it down and keep it from falling.
Indo western style drape
This drape is regularly seen in party circle now. Many women use it to hide their belly.
Another northern pride drape
I personally have never seen any one wearing this drape. It is giving more of a party gown look.

I never though of wearing saree in a short skirt style. What drapes!!!

Old style saree drape

Nivi saree drape

gujarati style variation with a long pallu

skirt style saree -you can wear a corset blouse

I would recommend a belt or belly chain or some kind of ornament for the waist so as to hold the pleats in place. Also, keep the pleats in the pallu quite small in order to give it a more feminine feel.

Check out the pleats!

Basic Gujarati style.

This style doesn't go well with the blouse. However, this style will go well with a spaghetti strap or strapless saree blouse. It might even work quite well with short sleeves, as long as the neck is cut wide and square.

I love the way the pallu is tucked underneath the strap of the blouse.

This style only works because there's a belly chain to hold everything in place. You can try pinning, but the effect is much nicer with a bejeweled waist.

Another style that employs an ornament (in this case a broach at the hip) to hold the pallu in place.

The side pleats really give this look a unique and trendy feel.

Creative use of a floral pin really makes this easy to create look stand out.

Nice way to show off the saree blouse.

It's simple, yet very effective.

I don't think this style of wearing a saree will really work without a belt/belly chain.

This style doesn't really suit the saree, but would look really nice with a two-tone chiffon or georgette saree.

I love this look. It's sleek, it's simple and very, very sexy!

A combination of a couple of different styles.

Very similar to another one above, but with the pallu inverted and tucked in at the waist

gujurati style with the pallu held ny a brooch and one end of the pallu pinned to give a fan type effect.
